In 1907, two American engineers named Hiram Griggs and Jerald Tatum designed a new type of knife called the Tatum Axehead Knife for use by Hawaiian farmers. As the population grew on Kaua'i and other islands, more tools were needed to carry out these new tasks. Kaua'i became an official state of Hawaiʻi in 1959. The first permanently inhabited island in Hawaii was Kaua'i, which began being settled by Polynesian people in the late 12th century AD. It was also used for fishing, farming, and construction purposes. There was a tool called a "kapu" which was used to measure distances and determine directions. Some of the earliestmulti-tool tools were created on Hawaii, as early as 1280 AD. The people here are so different from any other, that it's no wonder there are so many multi-tool tools history to be found. Hawaii is one of the most diverse and multicultural countries in the world.
